rabbit inc. has raised $10 million in a series A funding round led by Khosla Ventures, bringing its total funding to $30 million.

The startup will use the funds to expand its headcount and develop its first standalone hardware device – r1 – powered by rabbit OS, an operating system built on its proprietary foundation model, Large Action Model (LAM).

The Progress of LAM:

• LAM is designed to understand and act upon human intentions in a more efficient way compared to Large Language Model-based programs such as ChatGPT.

• rabbit OS performs all tasks without the need for users to manually create new accounts or pay for additional subscriptions for those apps to access them in rabbit OS.

AI cannot patent inventions, UK Supreme Court confirms.

UK Supreme Court rules AI cannot be named as an inventor in a patent application. Technologist Dr. Stephen Thaler tried to name his AI, Dabus, as the inventor of a food container and a flashing light beacon; however, the IPO denied the bid, stating that only a person could be named as an inventor. Five Supreme Court judges dismissed the bid to reverse the decisions, concluding that "an inventor must be a person," and an AI cannot be named as an inventor. The judgement raises policy questions about how laws should be changed in the future as AI advances.

Microsoft Copilot now can write songs.

Microsoft's AI-powered Copilot can write music thanks to a third-party plug-in called Suno. Once you describe the song's genre, Copilot writes the lyrics and even offers a Play button to give you your musical masterpiece. With new features like GPT-4 Turbo and DALL-E 3, Copilot will take full advantage of the latest models to enhance performances even further. Copilot can be used across several different aspects and optimizes multi-modal prompts with GPT-4 and Bing image search and web search data. Microsoft Edge users will soon be able to use Copilot to write content from most websites with an Inline Compose with rewrite menu feature soon.
