AI Secret: Researchers from Alibaba Group's Institute for Intelligent Computing have developed a new full-motion deepfake technique, Animate Anyone. This new technique represents an advancement from former image-to-video systems like DisCo and DreamPose.

The Progress:

• Character Animation involves creating character videos from still images using driving signals. Diffusion models are widely used in visual generation research due to their strong creative abilities.

• However, maintaining temporal consistency with detailed character information in image-to-video transformation, particularly in character animation, is still challenging.

  

• This innovative technology is designed to transform fashion pictures into authentic, animated videos using a structured sequence of poses.

Animating Different Characters:

While it marks an improvement, it's not yet perfect and could be better at eyes and hand movements. Best results are obtained when the poses are closest to the original.

Mastercard launches AI shopping assistant, Shopping Muse.

AI Secret: Mastercard is launching a generative AI-based tool called "Shopping Muse" developed by Dynamic Yield which provides personalized recommendations to shoppers.

The advantages of Shopping Muse:

Gartner's report predicting that more than 25% of retailers use generative AI, with 13% planning to incorporate such solutions within a year.

Absci and AstraZeneca partner for AI-based cancer treatment discovery.

Absci, a leading AI antibody discovery firm, is partnering with AstraZeneca for the development of new cancer treatments. The partnership will utilize Absci’s Integrated Drug Creation platform along with AstraZeneca’s oncology expertise. Absci’s proprietary AI models will design antibodies using generative AI and scalable wet-lab technologies. The collaboration will also involve significant R&D funding and milestone payments.

Google delays the release of new AI model, Gemini, until next year.

Google has postponed the launch of its advanced AI model, Gemini, to early 2024 due to problems with non-English prompts. The AI, which reportedly surpasses OpenAI's GPT-4 in capabilities, is designed to understand and generate text, images and other content.
